Welcome to TOAST PTA's Reading Program! One of PTA's goals is to encourage all students to read and we have redesigned last year's "A Reader is a Leader" to encourage even more students to get involved.

Any child who wishes to participate will need to fill out a contract and will decide themselves how many books he/she can comfortably read each month. A three book minimum is needed in order to be eligible for raffle prizes. You can help your reader choose books that are appropriate for his/her age and reading ability and encourage them to read different types of books and/or magazines. Naturally, younger children can be read to!

Once a book is read, please take a few minutes and ask the child some questions about it. Then have the student complete the form listing the book title and author. We encourage the students to write a short comment about the book, you can initial the form. Once the student has completed his contracted number of books, the form can be returned to the Reader is a Leader mailbox in the Main Office.

At the end of the month, all students who have completed their contracts will be recognized. Their names will be entered into a raffle each month for special prizes. These prizes include gift certificates to Borders; Beanie Babies from Hammett's Learning World; free video rental from Video World; admission to Stompin' Ground and Chuck E Cheese; ice cream cones from Stewarts and Ben and Jerry's; food from McDonalds, Burger King, Bagel Bite, Pizza Hut, Dunkin Donuts and more!
